Mashreq has provided banking and financial services to millions of customers and businesses since 1967. We are the largest private bank in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a growing retail presence in the region including Egypt, Qatar and Bahrain.

Godawful

Sorry to also confirm the terrible state of this local bank. We reluctantly opened an account with Mashreq so we could give our landlord 3 checks for rent over the year. We have not used it for anything else until my US credit cards would not allow me to pay my monthly bills from overseas anymore directly as of Feb '10. So we thought we would transfer the cash via our Mashreq account monthly for a fee. So we went to the bank, set up the wire transfer aspect online with them and transferred money to both a US account and a UK account. Then waited and waited for over a MONTH to receive the funds into our foreign accounts. Needless to say, numerous calls and visits to the Mashreq counter resulted in nothing but frustration. Did you know it cost 50AED for them to look for the transfers EACH? To cancel the whole thing is 400 AED EACH as well. When they finally "found" the money, there was no interest given back nor interest in our complaint. No accountability. Whereas if the shoe were on the other foot, we would surely be in jail for failure to comply. Absolutely godawful.

Gold Account Services

I bank with Mashreq for 18 months and the list of dissatisfactions is much too long with their services. I mean with the lack of them. Exampls: As soon as human intervention is necessary you have nobody to talk to. Mistakes on their side, you pay for them. Late delivering your transferred funds, they hit you with AED 300 cheque bouncing fees on the spot. You complain - time wasted. You escalate, time wasted. You see one exchange rate, they apply another. Only one suggestion: avoid, AVOID Mashreq bank. Or quit ASAP, in order to preserve hope in Dubai retail banking. Alexander Matthey, Dubai.
