A fast-growing international airline with one of the youngest fleets in the sky and more than 400 awards for excellence worldwide, Emirates is one of two key corporations in the Emirates Group. The other is Dnata, one of the largest travel organisations in the Middle East with over 8,000 employees handling passenger, cargo, ramp and technical services for numerous airlines at Dubai International Airport.

Beware - if booking Business Class

Although Emirates advertised to travel agents in South Africa that ALL its Business Class seats were "lie flat" ones, the EK765/EK766 flights are NOT - even though EK766 is the late night (overnight) flight from Johannesburg. They use an Airbus 340 with reclining seats, so no sleep possible! When I complained to Emirates they tried to pass this off initially as an aircraft change. When I pointed out this was not a change of aircraft (after doing some investigation), they were largely uncaring. Their attitude seems to be that they are the only airline flying directly between Johannesburg and Dubai, so we have to use them. Not a good response from the airline. Attitude very poor (and made worse as I am a Gold Skywards member, although seriously considering a switch to Etihad now).
